Luis currently serves as Opyn’s COO, where he oversees all operational aspects for Opyn Health and provides direction, strategy and innovation around the products and services we deliver.

Luis is a tenured leader with nearly 30 years of experience across several areas of healthcare, with deep expertise in the payor space. Prior to joining Opyn, Luis was at Elevance, where he co-developed the Student Health Market. He served as the leader of the student market for the last two years, where he grew the products and membership to nearly 1 million students covered across the various products and plans.

In his prior roles at Elevance and Anthem, Luis was responsible for the development and implementation of innovative product, solutions and operational processes dedicated to several unique lines of business, including Taft Hartley, Labor & Trust, TPA, Self administered and Self Funded entities.

Luis believes deeply in empowering healthcare consumers, so they are clear on their care options, costs, and quality of care available. Well informed consumers are more likely to make the better choices around their care, which leads to better outcomes.
